National "She's funny that way"

This day is dedicated to my co-writer who is off in Africa, because she's funny that way.

She loved asians, she's funny that way.

She loves chocolate milk and donuts, she's funny that way.

And she loved to jump in piles of lost coats because she is funny that way.

Pencil Day!

I personally am going to celebrate my writing tool, by sharpening all the pencils I can fins in the house--and just maybe eating a pencil shaving flavored jelly bean.
Here I am with some of my sharpened pencils. Upon seeing my jubilation about pencil sharpening my sister told me that I need to get a life. Really she should be thanking me, but maybe I will leave some of these sharpened pencils in her bed.

Naw Ruz

Naw-Rúz in the Bahá'í Faith is one of nine holy days for adherents of the Bahá'í Faith worldwide and the first day of the Bahá'í calendar occurring on the vernal equinox, around March 21.[1] Norouz, historically and in contemporary times, is the celebration of the traditional Iranian new year holiday and is celebrated throughout the countries of the Middle East and Central Asia such as in Iran, Azerbaijan,Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. Since ancient times it has been a national holiday in Iran and was celebrated by more than one religious group.[1] The Báb, the founder of Bábism, and then Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith, adopted the day as a holy day and associated it with the Most Great Name of God

International Ask A Question Day

Today my sister asked the question: why do they say "close but no cigar"

My dad says it's because at carnivals etc. they would have all sorts of prizes and one of the prizes was usually a cigar.

Middle Name Pride Day

I think I celebrate this holiday almost everyday because I love my middle name so much. Hi, my middles name is Victoria--what's yours?

24-Hour Global Marathon for, by and about Women in Engineering and Technology

Okay, this name is more than a little ridiculous right? It took me a couple read throughs just to figure out what it meant. Here is a blurb describing what this day is about form answers.com

At any and all times during a 24-hour period a “conversation” will take place somewhere in the world on issues for, by and about women in engineering. The marathon is a combination of live Internet chats, webcasts and teleconferences, and all are accessible to a worldwide audience. The marathon is held to coincide with Women’s History Month (March) and International Women’s Day (Mar 8).

This year the events are sponsored by Verizon. This seems like a somewhat silly holiday anyway, but seriously--they should at least rethink the name.

Potty Dance Day

So, I was thinking that today is a day about the little dance kids do when they have to go to the bathroom, and it is--kind of. But apparently this day is sponsored by Pullups and they made up their own version, it kind of creeps me out

Welcome to March

and Happy Adopt a Rescued Guinea Pig Month!

March, 2006 is "Adopt-a-Rescued-Guinea-Pig Month," which is sponsored by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Petfinder.com. Many people may not realize that hundreds of guinea pigs are relinquished to shelters each year when their owners decide they no longer want them or cannot care for them.

Who wouldn't want this little guy?
