24-Hour Global Marathon for, by and about Women in Engineering and Technology

Okay, this name is more than a little ridiculous right? It took me a couple read throughs just to figure out what it meant. Here is a blurb describing what this day is about form answers.com

At any and all times during a 24-hour period a “conversation” will take place somewhere in the world on issues for, by and about women in engineering. The marathon is a combination of live Internet chats, webcasts and teleconferences, and all are accessible to a worldwide audience. The marathon is held to coincide with Women’s History Month (March) and International Women’s Day (Mar 8).

This year the events are sponsored by Verizon. This seems like a somewhat silly holiday anyway, but seriously--they should at least rethink the name.
